Crossfire added softball as an outreach sport during the second year of ministry in 1994. Quickly following that expansion the ministry saw many men come to Christ throughout the local city league and in tournaments across the South. Over the years we have added teams and presently the ministry has "Six Men’s Teams" that play in ASA, USSSA, ISA, NSA and other sanctioned tournaments from March to October.
Each year we see the Lord touch many through the “Seventh Inning Stretch” share time after each game. The teams will share with the opposing athletes right after the game whether the team wins or loses. One of the Crossfire players will share his testimony followed by another player sharing the plan of salvation for those listening. It is not uncommon to see wives, girlfriends, children, umpires, fans and tournament directors pray a prayer to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Following the share time we always give the teams we share with a gospel tract to keep with them as they travel.
Crossfire has also had opportunities to travel to different communities and be a part of a church organized tournament where we are brought into play and share with the teams. Also preaching in the church on the Sunday following the Saturday tournament. This can be a very effective way to reach non church going people that consider the weekend their time off to relax. We are able to bring the message of hope to them then get them involved in the local church.
If you are interested in getting a Crossfire team started then please contact Jamie Johnson of Crossfire and he will explain what all is involved in having a team in your area. Our newest team resides in Alabama and they are doing very well.
